Allen Dale JENKINS

JENKINS, Allen Dale - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, passed away, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 E. Columbia Dr., Durand, with Fr. Jeffrey Poll celebrating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Tuesday from 2-9 PM and at church Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make contribution to Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church. Allen was born July 3, 1934 in Flint to Donald and Ann (O'Rourke) Jenkins. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 28, 1957 he married Florence Pilotte of Ontario, Canada; she preceded him in death on July 19, 2005. Dale worked for General Motors at the Chevrolet truck plant in Flint for 43 years before retiring in 1996 to work on his farm full time which he loved very much. Dale is survived by his 6 children, Maureen (David) Glaser, Giselle Heron, Daniel (Dannette) Jenkins, Dennis Jenkins, Greg (Teresa) Jenkins, and Yvette (Morris) Pickler; his grandchildren, Simone and Nicole Glaser, Ashleigh, Chase, and Allison Jenkins, Joshua and Zachary Pickler, and Chandler Gray; his companion, Margaret Hahn; brother, Leo (Sally) Jenkins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
