MANFRE, Anthony John - Age 87, of Fenton, died Thursday, July 13, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton Sunday from 2-8 PM where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM and at church Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Anthony was born May 7, 1930 in Detroit, the son of Leonardo and Agnes (Adamo) Manfre. He was a graduate of Holy Redeemer Catholic High School in Detroit. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Ruth Barnett April 25, 1964 in Redford. Anthony had resided in Fenton since 1988 coming from Redford. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. He was also a life member to the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. He enjoyed bowling, and playing cards and scrabble. Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Ruth; daughter, Debra (Joseph) Ziemba of Minnesota; sons, Jesse Dockery of Detroit and Anthony Manfre II of Fenton; grandchildren, Beth Ann (Jim) Lindborg of Minnesota and Joseph (Ames) Ziemba of Minnesota; great grandchildren, Katie, Joey, and Nancy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo and Agnes Manfre; daughter, Linda May Webber; sisters, Virginia Manfre and Emily Rhode; and brothers, Joseph and Gaspare Manfre.
