Arnold Wayne Lanning

Arnold Wayne Lanning, age 77, of Burton, passed away on July 11, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service.

Arnold was born on February 10, 1949, in Fenton, the son of William and Frances (Feley) Lanning. He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. A proud and lifelong Wolverine, Arnold remained a devoted University of Michigan fan throughout his life.

Arnold dedicated 27 years to teaching with Flint Schools before retiring. He loved being outside listening to music or an audio book and enjoying his flowers. Some of his happiest times were spent sharing dinner and a movie with his daughter.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Coote; cherished grandchildren, Pandora and Valerie; and many nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Bill, Beverly, Bob, and Larry.
