KNAPKO, Bernice Marie "The Cake Lady" - age 84, of Burton, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Pines of Burton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin celebrant. The family will receive friends 10AM Thursday until time of Mass at church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. and 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. A vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Arthritis Foundation or Genesys Hospice. Mrs. Knapko was born January 4, 1926 in Lebanon, Kansas, the daughter of Riley and May (Rosebough) Criss. She married Dale A. Knapko and he preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Knapko was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a Girl Scout Leader for 30 years with the Fair Winds Council where she was "Napkins" the day camp first aider for 28 years at Happy Hollow. She baked wedding cakes for 35 years and was a member of the Genesee Valley Cake Club. Surviving are: two daughters, Theresa A. (Stephen) Diehl of NC, Tina M. (Jerry) Minarik of Goodrich; two grandsons, Eric (Becky) Diehl and Ryan Diehl; four step-great grandchildren, Andy and David Gale, Alex and Amelee Williams; two sisters, Bula Neeley of Boyne City and Audrey Miller of SC; brother, Riley Criss of CA; sister-in-law, Alice Knapko; several nieces and nephews.
