Betty S. PARISH

PARISH, Betty S. (Cooper) - age 79, of Swartz Creek, died peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will also be held 10 AM until the time of service Thursday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Parish was born October 13, 1933 in Flint, the daughter of Neely and Maida (Scobey) Cooper. She married Stanley Parish on April 19, 1952. Mrs. Parish was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a breast cancer survivor and never met a stranger. Surviving are: husband, Stanley of Swartz Creek; three daughters, Joni (David) Parish-Doane of IA, Karen Taylor and Lee Ann Parish, both of Swartz Creek; two grandsons, Erik Taylor and Daniel Taylor of Flushing; sister-in-law, Gae Cooper of Flint; brother-in-law, Clyde Lapish; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Lapish; brother, Johnny Cooper; stepfather, Emil Perowitz and stepbrother, Jerry Perowitz.
