Gibson, Billie Lee - Age 92, of Goodrich, died March 7, 2026.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday March 13, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48507. Committal service 12:30 PM Friday , March 13, 2026 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442. Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM Friday, March 13, 2026. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, his favorite charity.
Billie was born June 18, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, the son of John E. Gibson and Irene (Swallows) Gibson. He was a graduate of Dye High School. Billie served in the U.S. Army during Korea. He was married to Anna Tappy on January 21, 1956 in Angola, Indiana; she preceded him in death November 16, 2019. He retired from GM (AC) in 1992 with 29 years of service.
He was an avid Nascar fan. He stayed glued to the television while the race was on. He didnt miss a crash!!! or a turn!! He was almost a true blue UofM fan. Good, bad or otherwise he stayed loyal to the Wolverines!!! Go Blue!!!
Bill and Ann spent their winters in Gold Canyon Arizona for over 25 years. Bill started a weekly golf group at Queen Valley Golf Course that had lots of golfers joining in. Bill had several close friends that he made over the years and would socialize with daily. Jerry and Jeannie, Tom and Mary, Mark O., Kenny, Marilyn, Trish, Marie and Jan. They all had a great time together and looked out for him in his later years there.
Surviving are: four children, Pamela (Robert) Canter, Patrick Beck (Amy Smallidge), Sherrie Gibson, Lee Ann (Scott) Holland, grandchildren, Timothy (Lisa), Brad (Kelly), and Joshua (Hortense); great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lizzy and Emily; sisters, Esther (David) Booth, Hilda Warnock, Peggy Gibson, Carol Sue (Devereaux) Peterson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Anna; and sister Mary Daig.
