Bobby Black

April 25, 1930 — February 19, 2017

BLACK, Bobby Lewis, -- Age 86, passed peacefully from this world on February 19, 2017 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility - Pleasant View, in Corunna, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11AM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, 3410 Fenton Road, Flint. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held from 5- 8 PM Friday March 3 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, and again from 10AM until time of service at the church on Saturday March 4. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to South Flint Soup Kitchen c/o Lincoln Park United Methodist Church,or The Alzheimer's Association of Genesee County or Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility - Pleasant View. Bobby was born in Barlow, Mississippi on April 25, 1930. He was the son of Lester Black and Flora (Edwards). He married Joy Smith on August 28, 1954, She preceded him in death on March 16, 2008. He was a loving and selfless husband, father, and grandfather. Bobby graduated from Bendle High School (at the time Carman Schools only went to 9th grade) and served his county during the Korean War in the Army from September 1948 - July 1952. He worked at Royalite Electrical Supply for 44 ½ years where he ate Campbell's Soup every day for lunch while he played euchre with his coworkers. He was a faithful member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church for 60 years where he sat on numerous committees and served as a trustee for many years. Bobby never met a stranger, in fact, if you were lucky, he would "hug your neck". Bobby could be found most days at the Carman-Ainsworth Senior Center where he enjoyed playing Euchre and Pinochle. He is survived by his son, Steven (Sherry) Black, daughter, Lisa (Jim) Murphy; grandchildren Dallys, Addison, Collin, Stellan and Truman; brother-in-law, Harold Soper. He was Preceded in death by his wife, Joy; parents; brother, Michael Larry; sisters Peggy and Joyce; son, David. The family would like to thank all of the caring "Angels" at Pleasant View who took care of their father as if he was their own.
