Bonnie Rae Sly, age 77, of Montrose, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

A funeral ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Montrose Historical Telephone Pioneer Museum, P.O. Box 577, Montrose, MI 48457.

Bonnie was born on November 30, 1948, in Flint, the daughter of the late Theodore and Marjorie (Martin) Lamb. She graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, Class of 1967. Bonnie and Gerald “Moe” Sly were united in marriage on April 8, 1967, in Flint. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2017.

Bonnie worked for Westwood Heights Schools and Clio Area Schools as a bus driver for many years, retiring from New Lothrop Area Public Schools. She was active in her community, volunteering her time with the Neighborhood Pop-Up Clothing Shop and the Montrose Historical Telephone Pioneer Museum. Bonnie was a lifetime Girl Scout and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting, gardening, avid bird lover, researching genealogy, and creating beautifully crafted cakes.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Thomas) Holmes and Melody (J.R.) Badour; grandchildren, Abby Holmes, Carley Holmes, Zachary Holmes, Joshua Kohler, and Thomas Bauter; sisters, Rebecca West and Peggy Parker-Mitchell; bonus grandchildren, Barbara Warner, Cameron Wise, Kaitlin Perez, Catrina Beeny, and Jessica Kakstis; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ernest “Mike” (Carol) Sly Jr., Janet Sly, Fred (Pennie) Sly, James (Renee) Sly, and Beth Sly; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her half-sister, Shelby Hensley; brothers-in-law, Jack Mitchell and Duane Fivecoate; father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Dorothy Sly; sister-in-law, Cindy Sly; and brothers-in-law, Robert, David, Ken, and Herbert Sly.
