Brenda L. Newsome

Brenda L. Newsome, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted servant of the Lord, passed away on August 25, 2026. Born on December 1, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, Brenda was the daughter of Raymond Vickerman and Margaret Schaklewski.

Brenda's life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication. She was united in marriage with James E. Newsome, Sr. on May 21, 1960, in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Together, they built a beautiful life over 66 years. She is survived by her children, James E. Newsome Jr., Steven C. Newsome, and Leanne M. Craig (Jeff), her half-sister Denise M. Styka (Stanley), half-brother Raymond J. Vickerman, half-brother Charles R. Vickerman (Linda), and half-sister Loretta A. McKinney (Jim). Brenda was predeceased by her beloved husband, James, and brother David Vickerman. Her legacy is carried forward by her grandchildren, Faith Missel (Frederick) and Joy Neideffer (Ty), and her great-grandchild, Grace, who all brought immense joy to her life.

A graduate of Lutheran West, Brenda was known for her unwavering faith and her commitment to serving the Lord. Her Bible was a constant companion, and she spent countless hours immersed in its teachings.

A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, located at 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442. Family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and to say farewell to a remarkable woman whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer's Research Association, a cause close to Brenda's heart. The organization is based in Saint Clair Shores, MI, and is committed to advancing research in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Crescent Wood Senior Living and St. Francis Hospice of Titusville, Florida, for their compassionate care and support during Brenda's final days.

Brenda's warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit and love will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind.
