Brett Donald Fifer

March 9, 1980 — January 1, 2024

Beloved son, brother, and nephew, Brett Donald Fifer, lost his life to pneumonia and influenza A on January 1, 2024. He was born March 9, 1980 in Douglas, WY to Brett William and Donnie June (Martin) Fifer. He was raised in Glenrock, WY and attended schools there through his graduation from GHS in 1998. During that time, Brett made numerous friends who remained his lifelong companions. He always had a keen sense of right and wrong and always stuck up for the underdog. They grew up playing in the creek, riding bikes, playing basketball, camping and fishing in the mountains and staying overnight at each other’s homes on the weekends. One of the highlights of Brett’s school days was earning a trip to Florida for AAU Track. He also loved to go to Shawnee, WY to spend weekends with his brother, sisters and grandparents.

One year after graduation, Brett moved to Michigan to join his sister Angela and to look for work. While there, he never forgot his childhood friends and was known to engage in lengthy phone calls to wish them “Happy Birthday” and to catch up on their lives. Brett obtained his CDL and began a 23 year career as a Beer Delivery Driver for O & W, Inc., who became his second family. His bright smile and sense of humor won him many more lifelong friends among his coworkers, who dubbed him “Shaggy”, and his customers. Brett was known for his strong work ethic and trusting a man on his handshake.

In 2009, Brett married Jaclyn Michelle Hickman. They made their home in Milan, MI with their fur babies, Law, The Boxer and Aberdeen, the Westie Diva. They enjoyed taking leisurely Sunday drives and weekend trips to the “U.P.” They also loved watching their collection of old VHS movies, which were handed down from Brett’s grandparents at Shawnee. Golfing was another of their pastimes.

Brett leaves behind his parents, Donnie June & Thorvan Patten of Glenrock, WY, Brett William & Glenda Fifer of Arizona City, AZ; Brother Chase (Laura) Fifer) of Ypsilanti, MI, Sisters Nicole (Derek) Eager, Mason and Brecken of Glenrock, WY, Angela (Nick) Richards, Veronica and Lorelei of Fenton, MI, Sister/Cousin Karlene (Freddy) Escamilla, Miranda, Ava and Rey of Marble Falls, TX; Aunts & Uncles, Cindy (Mel) Ables of Bethany, OK, Kathy Martin of Ann Arbor, MI, Karen (Wayne) Wangerud of New Town, ND, Debbie (Lyle) Braun and Scott (Linda) Fifer of Tioga, ND, Gary (Lynnette) Fifer of Sidney, MT and Terry (Kris) Arason of Grand Forks, ND; In-Laws, Debra & Lowell Johnson of Estes Park, CO and Dr. Gail Zimmerman of Casper, WY.

Brett was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Jaclyn and grandparents, Donald & Shirley Martin of Shawnee, WY and Donald & Dolores Fifer of Tioga, ND; great-uncle, Gary Martin of Glenwood, MN and Uncle Mike Fifer of Tioga, ND.
