Brian Fredrick Alexander

Brian Fredrick (Fred) Alexander, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025 after bravely battling pancreatic cancer. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Adopt-A-Pet Fenton at www.adoptapetfenton.com. Fred lived his life to the fullest, never taking a moment for granted. His bright presence was a light that inspired those who were closest to him, and he meaningfully impacted everyone he met. 

Fred was born August 27, 1957 in Pigeon, Michigan to Frank and Nina (Wissner) Alexander. His twin brother, Brent, followed a few minutes later. Fred lived in Owendale with his large family until they moved to Howell when he was in 5th grade. He spent his childhood chasing pigs around his parents’ farm, hoeing bean plants in the summer, and participating in shenanigans with his four brothers. After graduating from Howell High School in 1975, Fred and his family moved to Fenton where they started a successful career in harness horse racing, dominating the Michigan circuit as the Alexander & Sons Stables. He had a passion for working with the horses, focusing on animal behavior and providing the best care for the horses’ well-being as athletes. His training career took him across the country, from southern California to Hawkinsville, Georgia to New York.

In 1991, Fred settled down in Linden with the love of his life, Kimberly. With the arrival of their three children, a daughter and twin sons of his own, Fred started his new path of becoming the most amazing stay-at-home dad while keeping in touch with the racing industry by assisting brother Brent. He also began volunteering as a youth baseball coach for 14 years, first mentoring his sons before spending the latter half of this time as a title-winning assistant varsity baseball coach for Lake Fenton High School.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Kim; cherished children, daughter Jordan Alexander of Rochester, and sons Robert (Hilary) Alexander of St. Louis, MO and Cody Alexander of Fenton; siblings Randy (Laurie) Alexander of Fenton, Brent (Tammy) Alexander of Flushing, Deann Alexander of Fenton and Kirk (Michele) Alexander of Escanaba; sister-in-law Julie Alexander (Joe) Tidwell of Linden; several adoring nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins; best friend Jake Kirk; and furry companion, Huckleberry. He was preceded in passing by his parents Frank and Nina, eldest brother Mark, in-laws Robert and Virginia Stocker, and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.
