Brian Lewis Buys

Brian Lewis Buys, age 65, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Trinity Health Oakland Hospital. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Brian was born on March 9, 1961, in Flint, to the late Janice (Leonard) Buys. He was a graduate of Carman High School. Brian worked for many years at Hougen Manufacturing before his current job at Soph Inc. He was united in marriage to Kim Holzhausen on June 22, 2013, at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum.

Brian and Kim shared many adventures together, enjoying travel, hiking, and camping. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and, most importantly, his grandchildren. Brian was an avid football fan who cheered on both the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, fishing, golfing, working in the yard, and attending AA. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Holzhausen; daughter, Lauren (Ryan) Pyles; son, Eric (Dalindra) Buys; three grandchildren, Kennedy, Colton, and Cassius; siblings, Kim Buys, Matt (Jennie) Buys, Cindy McKeever and Fred Buys; nieces and nephews, Brianna, Caden, and Asher; father-in-law, Al (Sue Laningham) Holzhausen; mother-in-law, Darlene (Jerry) Stead; and brother-in-law, Erich (Amy) Holzhausen.
