Bruce Lloyd Pavey, age 80, of Gaines, passed away on May 6, 2026. He was born on May 28, 1945, in Kalamazoo, the son of George and Kathryn (Engel) Pavey.
Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years of service to the people of Michigan as a Michigan State Police Trooper. Bruce was respected for his strength, dedication, and commitment to protecting others throughout his career.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Janet Pavey; children, Robin Drury, Amy Drury, George and Kathryn Pavey, and Dean and Tonya Pavey; and grandchildren, Desmond Pavey , Jacob Gangl, Joshua (Amanda) Gangl, Emma (Nick) Werner, Michael (Heather) Goudreau, Andrew(Carly) Pavey, Thomas Pavey, and Jessica Pavey; great grand children Abigail Pavey, and Eleanor Goudreau; brother Brian Pavey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Katherine Pavey, and siblings Steven(Diann) Pavey, Dean (Bonny) Pavey, Kay (Duane) Nedervelt.
Bruce will be remembered for his service to his country and community, his devotion to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, at 11:30am at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473, Entombment will follow the service at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 1:30 pm, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Michigan, 48422 where military honors will be conducted by the USMC and the Swartz Creek Honor Guard. There will be visitation on Tuesday May 19th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home as well as an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the VA Ann Arbor-Caregiver Support Center Program, Home Based Primary Care and the Community Care Teams for all of their support, caregivers through Right at Home, Connor, Tony and Brian as well as Heart to Heart Hospice.
