Byron Lee Baker- Age 71, of Burton, formerly of Dearborn, passed away April 19, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 12PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes- Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, Michigan. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 10AM until the time of service.
Byron was born September 29, 1954 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to the late Harold LeRoy and Doris Marguerite (Grof) Baker.
Byron was raised in Dearborn, Michigan and growing up, he spent many summers at Camp Dearborn. He had a unique experience at his elementary school where classes were held at Greenfield Village, which sparked his interest in history and traditional trades. He spent his early years as a lifeguard, a competitive triathlete, a Boy Scout, and later a Scout Master. He was active throughout his life and frequently visited the Davison Dog Park with his dog Miles, who he named specifically so he could brag that he “walked Miles every day”.
For most of his life, Byron served his community as a general contractor. His passion extended into his hobbies as a talented blacksmith and crafty creator or “jack of all trades” who could fix or build just about anything. He was a proud NRA supporter and was very interested in philosophy. He loved April Fools’ Day and would always start April 1st telling his family that he had just survived a “long March of 31 days”. Byron was the first to decorate for the holidays and would never miss a chance to get out on the dance floor.
He was a proud father and grandfather and will be missed by many.
Byron is survived by his children Charles Strong (Iylene Patino), Anthony Strong, Karma (Zachary) Postema, Destinee Baker (Anthony Sinagra), Noah Baker and Forrest Baker (Kara Cermak-Baker); grandson Forrest Baker Jr, and one granddaughter; siblings Lyle Baker (Karen Plott) and Joy Allen; and his beloved dog Miles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Cheryl Baker.
