Carl Harchick

Dec 12, 1960 — Oct 27, 2026

Lake Wales, FL

Carl Stephen Harchick, age 65, passed away on October 27, 2026.

Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Carl graduated from Powers Catholic High School in 1979 before earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

During his high school and college years, Carl worked at Perry Drug Store, a job that provided him with countless stories he loved to share throughout his life. He went on to build a successful career in engineering, working for Genesee Polymer, Buick City, and General Motors Truck & Bus. His career eventually took him to Navistar in Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Gretchen. The two were married on February 17, 2024.

Anyone who knew Carl knew he was larger than life. Often the loudest person in the room, he loved a good time, a good laugh, and making memories with those around him.

An avid sports fan, Carl loved cheering on his Detroit sports teams, but above all, he was a diehard University of Michigan fan. He spent countless hours coaching his children’s sports teams and took immense pride in their athletic accomplishments.

Carl valued his friendships, especially the lifelong bonds he shared with his closest friends, Brian Ward, Joe Haley, and Mike Charbonneau. Together, they shared countless memories, laughter, and good times that Carl cherished throughout his life.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Carl always wanted to make sure his family had everything they needed. He was incredibly proud of his children and found special joy in being Papa to his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Harchick; his five children, Lance Harchick, Felicia Liggett (Casey), Spencer Harchick (Zoe), Garrett Harchick, and Gabrielle Harchick; his stepson, Max Tash; and his three cherished grandchildren, Hazel, Ellie, and Jack.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Harchick and Josephine (Urbanik) Harchick.

Though his time in retirement was far too short, Carl truly lived life to the fullest. He leaves behind countless stories, unforgettable memories, and a family who will forever carry his love with them.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
