Carl Howdyshell

HOWDYSHELL, Carl J. - Age 75, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at Briarwood Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road. Pastor Brad Williams officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 PM, Wednesday from 10-8 PM, and 10 AM Thursday until the time of service. Carl was born December 19, 1938 in Logan, OH to Carl and Edna (Christian) Howdyshell. He worked at the GM Truck Plant for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He was a treasured life partner, a caring and generous father and grandfather, a loving brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a loyal friend. He loved fishing, Tiger baseball, nature and all animals. Surviving are his best friend and partner of 36 years, JoAnn Tornai; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Williams of San Antonio, TX; sons, Gregory Howdyshell and Nick (Susan) Howdyshell of Flint; sisters, Patricia Leavitt of Hale, MI, and Debbie Hampton of Poplar Bluff, MO; brother, Ron (Monica) Howdyshell of Flint; and eight grandchildren; special family friend, Ivonna Molina; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Carl; sister, Bonnie and her husband Gene Like, brother-in-law, Gary Leavitt; mother-in-law, Millicent Rogers; and infant grandson, Eric James Williams. Special thanks to the caring staff at Briarwood and Heartland Hospice. Carl was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and he will be sadly missed.
