Carmen M. Angell

January 17, 1934 — June 15, 2025

formerly of Swartz Creek

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carmen Angell on June 15, 2025 at the age of 91. Carmen was born January 17, 1934 in Flint, to the parents of Luigi and Evelina Appolonia. She was a 1952 graduate of Central High School, was class president and Cum Laude of her sorority. She met and married her high school sweetheart, George (Russell) Angell on November 13, 1954. She worked at the Capital Theater in Flint and AC before purchasing Luigi’s, El Toro lounge in 1966 along side her husband George and brother Louie Appolonia, retiring in 1996. She was a force of nature, an outgoing beautiful dynamic woman with a vibrant personality. A family matriarch at its finest. She was also a very knowledgeable, antique collector and dealer, and had a true gift for discovering hidden gems. But above all, she was an extraordinary mother, strong, loving, supporting and devoted to her family. She taught us the value of hard work, kindness and living life to its fullest. She had a gift of making friends wherever she went whether it was at her vacation home in Tawas or her favorite vacation spot in Gulf Shores, Alabama where she spent 25 winters. She made our life unforgettable. She is survived by her immediate family Russell (Laura) Angell, Nancy Angell Metcalfe, Teri (Ted) Thomas, 10 grand children and 22 great grandchildren. Sister, Teresa Donnelly, sister in law Diane Gutgesell and many nieces and nephews. She has preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Angell, parents, Luigi and Evelina Appolonia, sisters Elissa Macciomei, Lucille Krepp, brother Louis Appolonia and many more beloved family members. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 at 11am on June 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be made to the LaVigne Home for Compassionate Care 4085 Lapeer Rd. Burton, Michigan (www.lavignehome.org) in honor of Carman.
