BROWN, Carmen Michael  Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor J.D. Landis officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Mr. Brown was born August 28, 1924 in Fostoria, OH, the son of Michael and Caliopi (Butos) Brown. He married Betty Paugh on December 15, 1957 in Flint. Mr. Brown was a self-employed shoemaker and repairman for his entire life. He owned and operated Brown Shoe Repair. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army from 1947 1950 and spent five years in the Reserves. He was a member of the Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, Englewood, FL. Mr. Brown enjoyed playing the harmonica and golf, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are: wife, Betty of Swartz Creek; three children, Dorlinda (Sam) Ball of Flint, Jacquelyn Hilden of Swartz Creek, David Michael (Nancy) of Mt. Morris; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lucian Brown of Greece, Peter Briani of IL; five sisters, Francis (Ted) Tsitiridis of Greece, Helen Straziuso of OH, Mary (George) Pappas of OH, Sandra (Doc) Wiersma of Grand Rapids, Linda (Bob) Reinhart of OH; sister-in-law, Mary Brown; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Andrew and Vincent Brown; step-mother, Clara Brown; two sons-in-law, Chris Hilden and Bernard Ballard.
