Carol Agnes PIESKO

PIESKO, Carol Agnes - Age 72 , of Flushing, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at her residence. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, October 4 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint. Fr. Thomas Firestone celebrant. Visitation will be 4-9 PM Thursday with a Scripture service at 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to Veterans Organization of choice or Genesys Hospice. Carol was born July 23, 1941 in Flint the daughter of Howard Arthur Diem and Augusta A. (Marchelesky) Diem. She was married to Dr. Gerald E. Piesko on June 23, 1962 in Flint; he preceded her in death July 20, 2010. Carol earned her Bachelors Degree from U of M, her Masters degree from Madonna University , and obtained her goal of earning her Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University at the age of 68. She was the Director of Business for Career Alliance/ Michigan Works for 9 years. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She served on the Board of Directors for the Atwood Stadium Authority and was very involved in the Downtown Flint Revitalization efforts. Surviving are: children Jeannie and husband Dr. John Commet, Gerald Piesko Jr., Michelle and husband Mark Newman, all of Flushing; grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew, Jason, Gabriel, and Lauren; sister Barbara and husband Herb Herhold; mother-in-law, Helen Piesko; sisters-in-law, Donna Jean and husband Richard Burris, Gloria Diem; and several niece and nephews.
