Carolyn Secord

SECORD, Carolyn Jane (Smith) - age 94, of Flint, died Saturday, December 14, 2019. Funeral service will take place 11 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2111 Flushing Road., Flint. Pastor Gregory Timmons officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will take place Friday, 3 PM to 8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and again on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at church. Those desiring may make contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church or an organization of their choice. Carolyn was born on April 16, 1925, in Poseyville, IN, the daughter of Bertram and Carrie P.(Stallings) Smith. She was united in marriage to Frederick W. Secord on August 3, 1946 in Flint. Carolyn was a founding member of the Hurley Hospital Auxiliary and was actively volunteering until a couple years ago. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was still in contact with a few of the her troup members.  She was a sorority member of the Alpha Iota at GMI from where she received her business degree. When actively working Carolyn sold real estate in the Flint and surrounding areas. She also founded and was the Queen of the Sassy Chapeaus Red Hat group. Carolyn is survived by two children, Richard D. Secord and wife Judy of Flushing and Laurel L. Mitchell of Warrenton, VA; four grandchildren, Michael L. Hooks and wife Alissa of Grand Blanc, Bradley S. Hooks and wife Toni of Flint Twp., Jennifer Gray of Warrenton, VA and Khrysta Sink and fiance Doug Coffman of Manassas, VA; 12 great-grandchildren, Baylee, Terrence, Antony, Aaliyah, Bryanna, Elaura, Nicklas, Aiden, Khayla, Michael, Matthew and Conner. Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frederick; her daughter, Jane Ann Hooks; parents and three brothers, George, Robert and Max. Tributes maybe shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
