Catherine "Katie" A. Ebelt

Catherine "Katie" Ann Ebelt, age 55, of Gaines, passed away at her home with family at her side on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Family will have a time of gathering 2pm until 6pm on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Home - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. She was born on July 29, 1969 in Flint, Michigan to the late Robert & Carley Tallman. She graduated from New Lothrop High School, class of 1987. In 1990 Katie started working at Consumers Energy as a temp. Twenty six years later retiring in 2015, Katie ended her career with Consumers Energy in the Gas Distribution Department. Through employment and retirement Katie stayed a loyal and proud Utility Workers Union of America member. 

Katie married Jerry Ebelt on January 27, 2005. Together they had many adventures and travels. They took many roads trips throughout the states; Vermont, Maine and Louisiana to name a few. Typically these trips were for visiting family. Katie took great pride in mowing her lawn, in fact there was just one way to properly mow the lawn and that was Katie's way. If Jerry ever wanted to get under her skin all he would have to do was jump on the mower first and beat her to it. Above all adventures with Jerry nothing could beat deer and bear hunting. They ventured to Canada for bear and she would hunt for deer in the comfort of her "Katie’s Party Blind" on their property in Evart, Michigan. For those that knew Katie best it could easily be said she was a chatter-box. Katie enjoyed the company of others and making friends was a natural gift.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; four children, Kayla Streeter, Jordan Ebelt, Sarah (Wesley) Livingston and Jerry W. Ebelt Jr; four grandchildren, Carter Streeter, Riley Streeter, Piper Ebelt and Paisley Livingston; her six siblings, Kenneth (Roberta), Carley, Susan (Rick), Mary, Richard (Aida) and Joseph (Kathleen); her surviving husband's siblings, Kimberly Sue (Ken), Thomas (Wendy), Terry (Beverly), Michael and Michelle (Mitch). She is further survived by many more dear family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Carley) Tallman and her in laws, Thomas Ebelt and Marcia Gerow.
