Charlie Bowles, affectionately known to so many as “Big C,” passed away on July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of stories, laughter, and larger-than-life memories. Born on August 7, 1945, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Charles Chester Sr. and Lucille (Croteau) Bowles, Charlie’s spirit made an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Those who knew Big C would agree — they broke the mold after making him. He had an unmistakable presence that could light up any room, golf course, or card table. An avid golfer, he found as much joy in the camaraderie on the fairways as he did in the game itself. He was a long-time member of Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, where he enjoyed countless rounds and friendships over the years. He was also a master of gin rummy, always ready with a sharp hand and a sharper wit.
Charlie savored the simple pleasures of life: a fine cigar and a glass of Crown Royal in hand, his laughter and stories echoing late into the night. He taught those around him not just how to play the game — whether on the green or with a deck of cards — but how to enjoy every moment and make memories worth retelling.
Charlie is survived by his loving long-time companion of over 30 years, Trudy Kammer; his children, Charlie (Tammy) Bowles and Heather (Tom) Alexander; his grandchildren, Chaz, Chelsea, Dillon, and Addison; and his great-grandchildren, Asher and Jade. He is also survived by his brother, Danny Bowles, and his sister, Carol Vida.
He will be remembered for his big heart, bigger personality, and the countless ways he made life more colorful for everyone lucky enough to call him family or friend. Charlie “Big C” Bowles will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in every swing of a club, shuffle of cards, and clink of a Crown Royal glass raised in his honor.
A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held from 3-7 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, 9057 S. Saginaw Rd., Grand Blanc. Arrangements are being provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
