Almashy, Charles - Age 86, of Holly, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 309 E. Maple Street. Fr. David Blazek celebrant. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with a Scripture Service starting at 5:30 PM, followed by sharing. Visitation will also be 10 AM until the time of Mass Wednesday at the church. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held 10 AM Thursday, August 1 @ Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly.
Charles was born January 14, 1938 the son of Louis James Almashy Sr. and Petrina (LoCicero) Almashy. Chuck was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Future careers included serving the city of Berkley as a police officer and a Journeyman Plumber for Plumbers Local 98. He loved to hunt and was the President of The National City Hunt Club. Chuck was a joke teller and loved making people laugh. He was an avid reader who especially enjoyed historical novels, mysteries, and war documentaries. For more than twenty holiday seasons, Chuck played Santa for countless community events. In his lifetime, he was a member of Knights of Columbus – Bishop Gallagher Council and Disabled American Veterans. He served his parish as an usher at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Holly. He absolutely loved his family.
Preceded in death by; father, Louis James Almashy Sr., mother, Petrina Almashy, brother, Louis J Almashy Jr. and sister-in-law, Lillian Almashy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lori Almashy. He is also survived by eight children and three step-children, Mary Lisa Altomari (David), Alicia Kreiger (Timothy), Petrina Koerner (Terrell), Charles Almashy Jr, Juliana Stevens, Sheila Miller (Tod), Monica Ayers (Gregory), Regina Breitmeyer (John), JoAnna Zatelli (Robert), Alan Maus (Jeanette), and Jessica Buth (Douglas).
Chuck is survived by 33 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Catherine, Patrick, Tyrsa, Melina, Kyla, Danielle, Zachary, Gabrielle, Grace, Jacob, Charles (Joey), Michael, Charles, John Raymond, Anthony, Olivia, Luke, Delila, Victoria, Ethan, Alexsis, Maxwell, Hannah, Emily, Alexander, Natalie, Noah, Brittany, Marlee, Aiden and Delaney. In addition, he is also survived by 23 great grandchildren.
