Charles Edward THORNTON

THORNTON, Charles Edward - age 78, of Linden, died Thursday, February 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Monday, February 18, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Fund. Mr. Thornton was born January 5, 1935 in Fenton, the son of Roy W. and Helen (Jarvis) Thornton. He was a 1953 graduate of Fenton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles retired from General Motors V-8 Engine Plant with 29 years of service. Surviving are 4 children, Sandra Thornton of Denver, Colorado, Mark Thornton of Fenton, Michael and wife Kimberly Thornton of Swartz Creek, Joseph and wife Kimberly Thornton of Linden; 6 grandchildren, Joseph, Samantha, Benjamin, Brandon, Taylor and Matthieu; 2 brothers, David Thornton of Iowa and Clyde Thornton of Fenton; 3 sisters, Helen Compeau, Violet Baird and Vera Thornton all of Fenton; several nieces and nephews.
