Charles Henry YORK

YORK, Charles Henry "Charlie" - Age 82, of Flushing, died Monday, September 19, 2011. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Mr. York was born September 17, 1929 in Flint, the son of Henry and Anna (Nelson) York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 82nd Airborne. He married Eloise C. Hutchinson October 22, 1949 in Angola, IN. Mr. York retired in 1981 from the Flint Fire Department as a Captain. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #64. He was most comfortable in the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: wife, Eloise C.; 2 sons, Charles and wife Wendy York of Gahanna, OH and Donald and wife Jennifer York of Flushing; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, Deverne and wife Lois York of Tawas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack York. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Avalon Hospice.
