Cheryl Lynn Clement - Age 62, of Milford passed away April 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church, 10235 White Lake Rd., Fenton with visitation from 11AM until the time of service. Pastor David Groendyk will officiate. Burial will follow at Colwell Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Center of Hope, Fenton or Carriage Town Ministries.
Cheryl was born May 27, 1963, in Bourbon, Indiana, to Robert and Carolyn (Weibel) Berkey. She spent her early years in Indiana before moving with her family to Fenton, Michigan, in 1973. As the daughter of a pastor, Cheryl learned from a young age what it meant to live a life devoted to serving Jesus. That calling—to serve others and point them to Christ—became the lifelong song she faithfully lived out.
With both parents musically gifted, Cheryl developed a love for music early on, playing piano and later the flute in her school band. While attending Fenton High School, she met her future husband, Kirk Clement. The two began dating after Cheryl completed her studies—first at Covenant College in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and later earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Cheryl and Kirk were married on August 1, 1987, at Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fenton, where her father proudly officiated.
Cheryl worked joyfully as a full-time nurse in Flint and the surrounding communities until the birth of her third child in 1994. As her family grew, so did her desire to be present for each moment—big and small. She stepped away from full-time work to devote herself to her family, where she flourished as a mother, raising five children and filling her home—and minivan—with love, energy, and purpose. As her role evolved, she began homeschooling her younger children while also using her nursing knowledge to care for her family’s medical needs.
A gifted musician, Cheryl shared her talents faithfully. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she played piano at Tyrone, blessing countless people through her music. She also carried on her mother’s cherished tradition of making handmade baby blankets for family and friends—each one a tangible expression of her care, creativity, and attention to detail. That same thoughtfulness was evident in many areas of her life, from sending meaningful cards for birthdays, weddings, and graduations to preparing meals to share with others.
Above all, Cheryl had a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ that permeated every part of her life. Her faith was not only something she professed but something she lived out intentionally each day. She had a natural gift for conversation and connection, never meeting a stranger and always offering a kind word or gesture. Whether with lifelong friends or someone she had just met, Cheryl’s warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others made people feel seen and valued. The light of Christ shone clearly through her words and actions.
She is survived by her husband, Kirk Clement; her children, Allison (Andrew) Mack, Rebecca (David) Olson, Hannah (Kyle) Jacobs, Isaac Clement, and Seth (Grace) Clement; her cherished grandchildren, Mia, Gabriella, Evelynn, Liam, and Madelyn; her brother, Brian (Betsy) Berkey; her sister, Dr. Donna (David) Lowry; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
