Clifford Green

July 7, 1941 — March 15, 2020

Clifford Wayne Green, an Air Force Veteran, retired FAA Electronics Technician, and non-federal facilities contract coordinator, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 15, 2020 at the age of 78.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley Green; their children, Deann (Husband Hector), Roberta (Husband Fredy), Veronica (Husband Eric), Charles (Wife Tammy), Jeffrey (Wife Nathalie), Michelle (Husband Austin), Michael (Fiancée Niki) and niece Helen. He also is a proud grandfather of 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He also has “adopted” many children and grandchildren along the way.

Cliff was born in Ortonville to Burton and Clara (Nee Hickey) Green, and graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1959. Cliff served honorably for 22 years in the military then moved on to become a dedicated employee for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 2006. He also served as a union representative for Professional Airways Systems Specialists. Cliff’s family, friends, and peers described him as someone who was dependable, appreciated and respected by all.

Cliff enjoyed attending family events, golfing with friends, and supporting his churches. He sang in the Dixie, Heritage, Cornerstone, and Emmanuel Baptist churches. He taught Sunday school, drove for the Dixie Baptist Bus Ministry, and was a trustee for Heritage Baptist church. One of his favorite activities was attending family and friends’ events such as concerts, sporting activities, and celebrations. He enjoyed traveling the country, visiting military museums and retired naval ships. He was also an avid bowler with a PBA certified 300 game in league bowling and season ticket holder for the Flint Symphony Orchestra.

Cliff had the gift of “helps”. He devoted resources, compassion and time to those in need, and throughout Cliff’s life he had a history of completing anonymous, self-less acts. Giving back to his community through his churches, volunteer tutoring math for elementary students, serving as the Band Booster President, and always being a reliable husband, father, grandfather and friend. Cliff’s Children often say he was “born to be a DAD”! Cliff’s grandchildren will remind you that there was never an activity that he didn’t attend, and once you were on his schedule nothing could change it.

His service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at  Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Tuesday. Cliff would appreciate donations to Heritage Baptist Missionary Fund in Clifford Green’s honor. 402 N East St. Fenton, MI 48430.
