Curtis "Dinker" Byron Halcomb, age 53, of Flint, passed away on May 21, 2026, in Byron, Michigan. Born on November 19, 1972, in Flint, Michigan. Curtis lived a life marked by commitment to the safety and well-being of others, embodying a gentle soul who truly lived to save lives. He was a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician for over two decades and later a security guard with Lagarda Security.

Curtis was a proud graduate of Flint Southwestern High School, class of 1991, and furthered his education by earning an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Keiser University in Lauderdale, Florida. His career was distinguished by his unwavering dedication to emergency medical services and public safety, most notably during the crisis at Clara Barton Terrace Convalescent Home in Flint, where his efforts were instrumental in reporting and helping save lives from a devastating explosion.

Known affectionately as "Dinker," Curtis cherished many hobbies and pastimes that reflected his creative and family-oriented nature. He enjoyed writing poetry, playing the guitar, and participating in target shooting for practice. A fan of television classics, he loved watching M*A*S*H and was known for his entertaining impersonations, bringing joy to those around him. His humor and warmth were ever-present in his interactions, highlighted by his close friendships which he fondly described as the "three musketeers," with James Collier and Jaime Newcombe as his steadfast companions.

Curtis is survived by his father, Thomas Halcomb, and stepmother Cindy Halcomb of Marmaduke, Arkansas; his mother, Linda Halcomb; and his sister, Candice Young, along with her husband Bill, of Byron, Michigan. He also leaves behind two nephews, Jordan Young and his wife Sharon, and Travis Young, as well as an anticipated grandnephew. In addition, Curtis’ memory will be cherished by a wide circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his beloved true love, Cindy, his grandparents Tommie and Ruby Mitchell and Ma and Pa Holcomb, and cousin, Jennifer Ardelean.

A visitation to honor Curtis’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. This will be followed immediately by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Uncle Curtis Holcomb presiding, with family, friends, and colleagues will gather to pay their respects to a man whose life was a testament to courage, kindness, and service.
