Oakley, Michigan

Daniel Crist, a devoted husband and father, proud grandfather, and dear friend, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service celebrating Daniel's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, located at 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan, 48473. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the service. The family invites those attending Daniel's services to wear Camouflage or their favorite sports jersey.

Born on December 16, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, to parents Noah and Florence Crist, Dan graduated from Linden High School, Class of 1966. Dan was a member of the UAW and was a retiree from General Motors, working at Fisher Body and Buick City. He was an amazing and loving father to his two children, Tony (Stephanie) and Tina.

Dan found joy in life's simple pleasures: time with loved ones, a good fishing spot, a deer blind, a deck of cards, watching his favorite teams, and if you ever wondered what channel Dan was watching, there was a good chance it was GRIT. He loved Old Westerns. But what truly defined him was not what he did, but who he was and how he lived. His kindness was effortless, his humor was infectious, and his heart was always open to others. He made people feel like friends, and he made the world a little gentler simply by being in it.

Dan is survived by his soulmate, his wife Donna; his children Tony (Stephanie) and Tina; his loving sister, Donna; his two stepsons, Mike (Julie) and Rick (Phylena); grandchildren Mike (Kandice), Samantha (Evan), Kennedy (Ariel), Ciara, Bryce (Ashlyn), David, Hannah (Jake), and Faith; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his best friend and brother, David.

Dan will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. Friends and family will carry his spirit forward in the stories they share, the laughter he inspired, the memories they hold close, and the kindness he showed so freely.

If Dan could leave everyone with one final thought, it would be this:

Continue to live. Continue to love one another. Be kind, share a laugh, make memories, and never take the time you have together for granted.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Daniel's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
