Danny Bates

Dan E. Bates, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born January 9, 1951 in Florence, Alabama to his mother, Ruby and his father, Carmel. Dan moved to Michigan when he was a teenager and attended Holly High School where he met the love of his life, Georgina. He married his high school sweetheart on October 24, 1970 and spent 52 years happily married and started a beautiful life together. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1973 and served the Fenton community for 46 years as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance and received many achievement awards throughout his career. He was a faithful Christian and family man. He prioritized family above everything else in his life. He had a strong relationship with the Lord and shared his faith with others. He loved music, and especially singing. He had a wonderful voice and shared his ministry through song. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends and family. He will be greatly missed by those around him, especially by his family and close friends. He was the proud father of two children and five grandchildren that he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Georgina; his sons and their spouses, Dan Jr. and Suzanne, Jason and Danielle; his five grandchildren, Drew, Noah, Evan, Olivia, Austin; and sister, Regina Cole.

Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton Thursday, January 19, 2023 1-3 PM.  Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes in Fenton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries 605 Garland St., Flint, MI 48503.
