Aurand, David Lee -- Age 80, of Grand Blanc, passed May 28, 2025, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 3:00–6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, and from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service Monday, June 9, 1:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc.
A private committal will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly.
David was born July 29, 1944 in Durand, the son of Herbert and Helen (Dolehanty) Aurand. He was a graduate of Gaines High School, Northwood University in Midland, MI, and the Executive Program at London, England Business School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam.
David had a long career with General Motors and Electronic Data Systems (EDS). He generously donated his time and talents to many charitable and civic organizations throughout the area over the years.
He loved all sports, especially golf and hockey, and was a huge University of Michigan football fan. In the 1970s and 1980s, he served as assistant coach for Carman High School’s hockey team.
David is survived by his wife Helen, and children: Dinah Salinas, David Porter (Lisa), Michael Porter (Julie), and Lisa Rachor (Jeffrey), and
grandchildren: Jena Salinas (Jesse), Rachel Porter, David Porter, Ashleigh Porter, Alyssa Porter, Austin Porter, Corbin Maleki (Cyrus), and Colby Rachor (Kathryn), and
great-grandchildren: Natalia Salinas, Culver Maleki, and Charlotte Rachor. Sister, JoAnn Pobocik.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Roger; brother, Tom Aurand; and beloved nephew, Todd Aurand.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Travis Mills Foundation, Genesee County Humane Society or The North End Soup Kitchen.
