David Lawrence Burton

David Lawrence Burton, of Burton, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Living Joy Assisted Living in Flushing. He was 78 years old.

Born January 19, 1948 in Flint, he was the son of Lawrence and Dorothy (Tackebury) Burton. David was retired from the Plumber Local #370 where he was a Master Plumber. He loved fishing and hunting, was a huge Star Wars fan and enjoyed tv mysteries like Perry Mason, most of all he loved his wife and children and time spent together.

He is survived by his wife Lori J. Burton; a son David E. Burton; a daughter Denise Checker and her husband Jeff; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jessica and Elexis Burton; one brother Greg Burton; two sisters Joann Turnwald and husband Mike and Carol Lang; a sister in law Kathy Godman; and many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Sandra Burton and a son in infancy David L. Burton Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 20th at 11:00am at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek, MI 48473. There will be a period of visitation from 10:00 am until time of the service.
