It is with deep sorrow and full hearts that we announce the passing of David Joseph Kohne, who was born on November 6, 1937, in Erlanger, Kentucky, the son of Henry and Katherina Kohne.
David was preceded in death by his loving parents and his older brother, Henry. He carried their memory with him throughout his life, honoring the values of family, integrity, and the quiet strength they instilled in him.
David’s life was defined by devotion — to his family, to those he loved, and to living with kindness and purpose. He shared an extraordinary 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Louella Wermuth, a partnership built on unwavering love, mutual respect, and enduring companionship.
David leaves behind his cherished son, John Burt Wermuth-Kohne, and daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Wermuth, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. David also found immense happiness in his role as a grandfather to Andrew Jackson Wermuth, whose life carries forward his legacy.
As a psychologist, David counseled many people throughout the years. Even after retiring, he continued to offer counsel to those around him with love and kindness.
David had a love for the land and nature; he always took great care in planting and growing his garden each year. The care he demonstrated for the land extended to those around him and he will be remembered for his steady and caring presence, his warm heart, and the way he made others feel seen, supported, and valued. He lived with humility and grace, offering kindness freely and consistently to everyone around him.
His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so generously. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit remains a lasting presence in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
