Delore Paul SHAKER

SHAKER, Delore Paul, age 84 of Flint, passed away October 22, at Serenity Assisted Living of Clio. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1PM Friday, October 26, 2012 at Our Lady of Lebanon, 4133 Calkins Rd., Flint. Father Paul Tarabay celebrant. Visitation will be held Thursday 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at Sharp Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint and 12PM until time of Mass at the church. A rosary will be prayed 7:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family. Delore, a lifelong resident of Flint, was born on January 5, 1928, the son of Thomas and Mary (Estfan) Shaker. After losing his father at age 6, Delore was proud to help provide for his family as a shoe shine boy and newspaper boy. Upon graduating from Flint Northern High School, he began working for Buick, where he eventually became a cam inspector and retired after forty-seven years. He married Dorothy Joan Mecum of Flint and together they had six sons. A devout Catholic, Delore was one of the founding members of Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church and served there for many years. He was a lifelong member of the AMSYRLEB club and was very proud of his Lebanese Heritage. Delore was preceded in death by his sons Robert and George; his parents Thomas and Mary, brothers Robert and Maroun, sister Doloris, and brothers Paul and Lewis. He leaves to his memory his sister Margaret Shaker of Jackson Mississippi; his children Thomas Shaker of Davison, Joseph ( Lynelle) Shaker of Flint, David (Amy) Shaker of Pinconning , and Scott (Holly) Shaker of Flint; grandchildren Rachael Privett, Matthew Shaker, Chelsea Kimber, David Shaker, Shannon Shaker, Sarah Shaker, Samantha Shaker, Sophia Shaker, Steven Shaker and Robert Shaker; many nieces , nephews and 9 great-grandchildren. Delore's family would like to especially thank the staff at Serenity Senior Living and Hospice Advantage for their love, support and special care.
