Cass, Delores Joyce - Age 84, of Grand Blanc, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Delores was born October 9, 1940 in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Geraldine (Siebersma) Borgman. She was a 1957 graduate of Orange City High School. She then graduated from Northwestern College, Orange City, IA; during that time she traveled the country with the music club and was their singer. Delores also graduated from the University of Colorado where she earned her Bachelor's Degree, then graduated from U of M with high distinction earning her Master's Degree. She was married to Gilbert Henning Cass on July 1, 1961 in Sheldon, Iowa. Delores worked for Grand Blanc Public Schools from 1967, teaching 4th and 5th grades at Meyers Elementary School. She was a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church of Grand Blanc. Delores was involved in P.E.O. She volunteered at the Genesys Gift Shop. She and Gilbert were avid golfers and members of Atlas Valley Golf Club, and Riverwood Golf Club in Port Charlotte, FL. Delores and Gilbert enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida for many years. She also enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
Surviving are: two children, Sharon (Jack) Topolinski of Fenton, Steven (Renee) Cass of Traverse City; grandchildren, Jonathan Topolinski, William (Laura) Cass, Kennedy Cass, and Cameryn Cass; great-granddaughter Gabriella; brother, Richard Borgman; sister-in-law, K.C. Borgman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret (Doug) McInroy; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert on December 2, 2022; two brothers, Larry Borgman and Marvin Borgman.
A Funeral Mass for both Delores and Gilbert will be celebrated at 2 PM Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 PM until the time of Mass. A celebration of Delores and Gilbert's life will be held immediately following the Mass and burial at the Topolinski's home on Lake Fenton.
