BARTES, Dennis Willard - Age 67, of Swartz Creek, passed away Friday May 2, 2014. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd, Gaines. Fr. Jeffrey Poll celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Monday from 1-9 PM and at church Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 7:00, followed by a Knight of Columbus 4th Degree Chalice Service. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Dennis was born December 15, 1946 in Chicago, IL the son of Willard and Helen (Hunt) Bartes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Anne Louise Davis July 14, 1966 in Chicago, IL. He retired in 2000 from the Genesee County Water and Waste Department after 31 years of service. Dennis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #12186 and Fenton Assembly #2031. Surviving are: wife, Anne; 6 children, Diane Bartes of Ohio, Sandra and husband James Carpenter of Maine, Dennis, Jr and wife Kim Bartes of Sterling Heights, Colleen Miehm of Flint Township, Andrew Bartes of Ohio, and Danielle and husband Randy Burke of Burton; 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister, Kathy and husband Jack Carmode of Clio; aunt, Barb Osborne of Lupton; uncle, Wesley and wife Dodie Hunt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
