Dennis "Denny" Sands

Dennis "Denny" Sands was born in Brighton, Michigan on March 1, 1945. He resided in Oakland County until his family moved to the farm in Byron. He graduated from Byron High School in 1963. He enlisted into the Army shortly after graduation and served in South Korea and Germany. Returning home, he worked at Buick Motor Company. After leaving employment with Buick, Denny returned to the Army where he was assigned to the service of General Johnston. He worked at Creative Foam until his retirement. Denny will be fondly remembered for his love of family, animals, practical jokes and for his innate talent to tag his loved ones with sweet and funny nick names. 

Denny is survived by brothers, Robert R. Sands and M. Dale Sands (Debra Heath), sister, Terry L. (Sands) Jackson, Barry T. Jackson; his cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John M. Sands and sister, J. Joy (Sands) Shuck.

A Graveside Service & Military Honors will  be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 2:30PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48422. Those attending at the cemetery will need to arrive 15 minutes early. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis' name to the Genesee County Humane Society. 

 Denny's family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Compassus Hospice for their assistance during his final days.
