Dennis ‘Denny’ Gordon Weaver of Flint, Michigan slipped peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by family at the age of 80 on Saturday, August 22, 2026. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in Dennis’ memory to Halsey United Methodist Church or the Compassus Foundation.

Dennis was born on October 7, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of the late Melvin and Shirley (McKay) Weaver. Dennis was a 1964 graduate of Redford Union High School. He became a City of Flint Police officer and served the city for 20-years, before retiring in 1987. An avid Michigan State fan, Dennis attended many Spartan football games with many loved ones and fellow Sparty fans.

He was very involved with ice hockey in Genesee County, the State of Michigan and across the country. Coaching the youth, teaching the coaches and cheering on his favorite teams. Whether it was his son, grandsons, local teams, collegiate teams, or professional teams he enjoyed the game. Dennis worked for many years with USA Hockey teaching the game to the coaches and helping to grow the sport.

He loved giving back to the community and was part of the Elf Khurafeh Shriners and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Dennis was a member of Halsey United Methodist Church in Grand Blanc.

He is survived by his wife of 50-years, Marie (Bohnsack) Weaver, his (4) children, Christine Mayer, Kimberly Weaver, Tya (Brian) Tallieu and Dennis (Kim) Weaver; bonus son (exchange student) Mikko (Tytti) Kaattari [Veikkola, Finland]; brother Randy (Pam) Weaver [Bradenton, FL]; sister Melanie (Alan) Howard [Venice, FL] and sister-in-law Marla Weaver [Henderson, NV]; (6) grandchildren, Brittany Wright; Amanda (Logan) Kalakay; John (Allison) Tallieu; Brian (Trinity Penza) Tallieu, Owen Weaver, and Robert Carpenter; (9) great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
