FRASER, Diane Helen (Eissinger), age 78, of Grand Blanc, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013. A memorial service will be held 12PM Saturday, May 31 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc. Pastor Jonathan Moyer officiating. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of service at the church. Service arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Diane was born in Valley City, North Dakota, on January 11, 1935 the daughter of the late Enoch and Florence (Liebe) Eissinger. "As a young girl growing up in Flushing, she was vivacious, popular, caring, active, athletic, smart, and pretty. I was proud of 'Miss Everything' at Flushing High School: Scholar, Athlete (a lefty with a strong arm, played first base), cheerleader, thespian...Lots of friends always over at the house on Henry Street. Dad made it tough on the boyfriends to the mortification of sis." In college at Central Michigan, Diane was an active and popular whirlwind. She was a cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, President of Sigma Sigma Sigma, Secretary of the junior class, Secretary of Alpha Psi Omega, Vice-President of Kappa Delta Pi, a member of the Radio Guild, the booster club, the Woman's Recreation Association, the Modern Dance Group, Interfaith Council and the PanHellenic Council. As a senior she was elected to "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." She also received the honor that she treasured most, the "Chippewa Award" given to the four most outstanding members of the graduating class. She was a contestant in the Miss Michigan Pageant, as a lead up to the Miss America Pageant. It was at Central Michigan that she met Tom. After College she took a job as an English teacher and the girls basketball coach at Kearsley High School in Flint. In 1957 Diane and Tom married and settled in the Detroit Area. She took a job with the Southfield School system where she stayed until 1971. She received a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from Wayne State University. She changed from teaching to counseling in 1958. Judith was born in 1971 and Diane became a stay at home mom. In 1972 the family moved to Grand Blanc. She took an active role as a docent at the Flint Institute of Arts and later served on the Board of Trustees. She was a member of Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. She loved golf and tennis and played both for years. When the Buick Open golf tournament returned to Warwick Hills, she became a volunteer and worked every event until 2009, the tournament's final year. She was "Volunteer of the Year" in 2002. During her time volunteering as a walking scorer she walked with some of the most famous names in golf, including Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Tiger Woods. She joined the staff at Baker College of Flint in 1992, and worked as a Guidance Counselor until her retirement in 2012. She was an active member in the Genesee Area Counselors Association, serving for years on the board and as the Secretary. She was an avid reader, theatre, dance, art, and sports enthusiast. She lived and breathed on the ups and downs of the Detroit Tigers. She was proud of her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a supportive and loving wife. She had a great sense of humor and was respected by all. She is survived by her loving husband Tom, her loving daughter Judith George (Nicholas) of Oak Park, Illinois, her three loving grandchildren Caroline, Catherine and William George, her loving siblings, Ramon Eissinger (Diane) of Belleville, Michigan and Vickie Orsini (Nico) or Ona, West Virginia, Many cousins, nieces and nephews and her special, life-long friend, Doris Crandall of Traverse City, Michigan.
