Dona Jean Jones

Dona Jean Jones, age 79, of Owosso, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Services will take place 2:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly.

Dona was born on August 27, 1946 in Sumter, South Carolina the daughter of the late Dock and Gladys Lowder. She graduated from Edmonds High School. Dona was united in marriage to Bobby Jones on December 5, 1998 in Flint. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 15, 2023. She worked for Durand Schools for 19 years as a custodian until her retirement in 2001. Dona enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her free time, she could be found watching the Detroit Tigers, playing on a computer and day driving.

She is survived by her children, Dale (Melissa) Shiffer and Charlotte (Krystal) Sage; stepchildren, Tamara, Marlesa, and Guy; grandchildren, Jarin, and Wyatt; and sister, Virginia. Dona is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and her furry family, Joey and Jake.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dona was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Harley-Ann Shiffer; and siblings, Sarah, Lottie and Lawson.
