DOUGLAS, Donald Kurtis, Sr. - Age 72, of Corunna, died Thursday, July 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8497 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Jerry Essinger officiating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Saturday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church. Mr. Douglas was born December 21, 1940 in Lake City, AR, the son of Miles and Julia (Ellison) Douglas. He married Donna Dora Thiem September 9, 1961 in Alpena. He had resided in Corunna for the past 52 years. Mr. Douglas retired in 1994 from GM Chevrolet Truck Plant in Flint. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Donna; 4 children, Julie and husband Dave Dockham of Alpena, Donald, Jr. and wife Rose of Weatherly, PA, Stephen White of Aurora, CO, and David and wife Pamela Douglas of St. Clair Shore; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother Raymond Douglas and wife Judy of Howell, sisters, Verna "Mae" Meshinsky of West Branch, Marge King of Lapeer, Virginia "Lucille" Thompson and Rose Hafer both of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.
