Donald Everett Dunavan

Dunavan, Donald Everett - age 85 of Flint, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Donald's life will be held from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2026 at the Burton VFW Post #822 located at 5065 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48507. Mr. Dunavan will be laid to rest, with military honors rendered by the United States Army & Post #822, at Great Lakes National in Holly, Michigan - Date & Time to be announced. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Donald to the Burton VFW Post #822.

Donald was born on May 11, 1941 in Flint, Michigan to the late George and Viola Virginia (Jacobs) Dunavan. He graduated from Flint Central High School before serving our country with the United States Army. He married Charlene Ruth (Wakeman) on October 17, 1981, she preceded him in death on May 1, 2022. Donald's life of service continued as an MP with the National Guard / Flint Infantry Division, Burton Police Officer and he volunteered as a Burton Fireman. He retired from General Motors after 30 of service and he was a proud member of the Burton VFW where he served on the Honor Guard.

Surviving are his children, Donald (Tara) Dunavan of Durand; Candy (Chris) Spencer of Ohio; Tony (Tammie) Breecher of Ohio; DeVonna (Jeffery) Irwin of Ottawa Lake; Karl Wakeman of Mt. Pleasant; Leon (Kimberly) Lacy of North Carolina; Scott Lacy of Flint.. 24 Grandchildren and 34 Great-Grandchildren. Donald will be welcomed into heaven by his parents; wife, Charlene; daughter, Lisa Gilbert; Siblings, Ralph, Chet & Molly.
