Donald Alexander Molitor
Fenton, Michigan — Don Alexander Molitor, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.
Early Life & Military Service
Born on March 1, 1946, in Wayne, Michigan, Don was the son of the late Antoinette Marie (Zaczkowski) and Alexander Frederick Molitor. Growing up, he possessed a deep passion for baseball, fondly remembering the days of his youth spent taking the bus and hitchhiking to Tiger Stadium to watch the games. He graduated from Saint Mary High School (Wayne, Mi) in 1964. Later that year, on December 10, 1964, Don answered the call of duty when he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country for two years, including one year on the ground in Vietnam, where he served as a Private in the transportation department.
A Legacy of Hard Work & Passions
Don was a man of immense dedication and intellect. He spent 30 years working as a project manager for the Wayne County Road Commission, where he was highly regarded for his diligence, particularly through his impactful work at the Detroit Metro Airport. Following his retirement from the county, his driven nature led him to continue his career as a project manager at Ajax for another 15 years.
Beyond his professional success, Don was an avid golfer, a true passion he pursued for three decades. He loved hitting the fairways across Michigan, Florida, and Myrtle Beach, and took great pride in teaching his grandsons the game from an early age at his home on the Coyote Preserve. Don was also a man of sharp mind and beautiful expression; he was a driven wordsmith who tackled crossword puzzles every single day, possessing an elaborate vocabulary and a gift for being an amazing writer. In his later years, he and his wife found great joy and reprieve traveling south to their condo each year to escape the cold Michigan winters.
Family & Endurance
Don’s greatest and most enduring love was his wife, Lynn Marie Molitor. The two were wed at St. Mary’s Church in Wayne, Michigan, on June 4, 1966, beginning a beautiful journey of devotion that spanned exactly 60 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Marie Molitor; his children, Alicia Balmoja (Shad) and Ryan Molitor (Michelle); his cherished grandchildren, Arielle Balmoja, Logan Balmoja, and Cole Balmoja; and his siblings, Mary Molitor, Thomas Molitor, Patricia Molitor, James Molitor, Paul Molitor, Peter Molitor, and Michael Molitor. Don was preceded in death by his two brothers, Kenneth Molitor and David Molitor.
