Donald Eugene Sloan

Donald Eugene Sloan - Age 89, of Swartz Creek, died January 25, 2026. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, January 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd, Gaines, with burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Davison. Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, from 4PM - 8PM, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with a rosary being prayed at 7PM and a Knights of Columbus Resolution of Condolence service to follow.  Visitation will take place again 9AM until the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Knights of Columbus - Gaines, St. Joseph Council 12186.

Donald was born April 17, 1936 in Burton Township, Michigan to the late Douglas James and Stella Frances (McDonald) Sloan. He worked at General Motors Service Parts Operation (SPO) in Swartz Creek, Michigan for 35 years. He was a churchgoer at St. Joseph and St. Mary Parish in Gaines, a member of Knights of Columbus - St. Joseph Council 12186, and was an amateur radio operator with call sign WD8PRW.

Donald is survived by his children Lance (Lilian) Sloan of Ypsilanti, Donna Cooney of Lansing, and Janell Chiaccio of Dudley, MA; grandchildren, Erik Sloan, Nora Sloan, Seamus Sloan, April (Cooney) Patelski, and Jessica Cooney; seven great grandchildren; and niece Linda Bailey.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helene Sloan; sons Rick, Randall, and Donald Jr. Sloan; parents Douglas James and Stella Frances (McDonald) Sloan; brothers Robert, Richard, Douglas and James; and sisters Dora and Gloria.
