Doris Elaine Adams, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 10, 1940, in Asheville, North Carolina, Doris was the cherished daughter of Harry and Gladys Burgin. She graduated from Waterford High School, where she met her husband James Gordon Adams Jr. They married in 1960 and went on to have two sons, James and Mark. She was a loving wife and mother who showed her love through her incredible culinary skills, hospitality, and generosity toward others.
Doris was known for her unwavering dedication to her community and various organizations. She served as the former president of the Swartz Creek Jaycees Auxiliary, was actively involved in the Mid-Michigan BMW Touring Club, as well as the Swartz Creek Parks and Recreation Committee. Additionally, she held memberships in the Bay City Yacht Club and the Flint Power Squadron. Doris was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, where she contributed her time and energy to the Altar Guild, demonstrating her commitment to her faith and community.
Doris is survived by two loving sons, James G. (Rose) Adams III and Mark H. (Penny) Adams, long-time companion Julian "J.D." Rauch, as well as four adoring grandchildren: Jordan (Tony) Simpson, Ryann (Andrew) Goulet, Alexandra (Cordaro) Alvarado, and Benjamin Adams. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Finley, Lorenzo, and Luca Alvarado, and Nora and Ellis Goulet, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James, on May 4, 2000, as well as her sister, Harriett, and her grandson, Cody Burgin Adams. Her life touched many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of service and devotion to family, friends, and community will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
