Dorothy Marie CARPENTER

CARPENTER, Dorothy Marie - of Flint Township went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 21, 2013 at 97 years of age at her home with family by her side. Dorothy was born in Portsmouth, OH, July 6, 1915, the daughter of James and Anna Fulcher. She married Donald Carpenter on May 20, 1940 in Davison. Together they had one daughter. She was employed as a head cook and baker at Fenton Lawn Elementary School in the Ainsworth School District for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Fenton Lawn Baptist Church for several years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a small, but mighty, woman. Everyone who knew her loved her spunkiness and her will to live life to the fullest. She loved spending time with family, traveling and spending time in Houghton Lake at the family cabins. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Taylor and husband, George of Clio; granddaughters, Georgia (Randy) Wilson of Bancroft, Jennifer (Rich) Chittick of Burton; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Ross) Converse, Ashley (Bryan) Bensett, Matt (Kayla) Wilson, Richie (Rachael) Chittick and great great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooke, Jordan and Alexis. She also had several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Dorothy was a friend to everyone and treated everyone like a family member. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald; her parents, brother, Walter "Fritz" Fulcher and two sisters, Katherine Goodrich and Evelyn Iansiti. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Avon Cemetery in Rochester, MI. A luncheon will follow the burial at Higher Ground Ministries, 6005 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Higher Ground Ministries.
