Dorothy Jurd

JURD, Dorothy Mae - Age 89, of Swartz Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Dorothy was born on November 18, 1927 in Flint, MI, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Amy (Fobes) Hewitt. She married James Edward Jurd on October 27, 1945, in Pontiac. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering, especially at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader as well as a 4-H leader. She donated blood to the American Red Cross at every opportunity. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and doing puzzles. Dorothy had a generous heart and she loved the Lord. She worked for AC Spark Plug for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Surviving are: husband of 71 years, James of Swartz Creek; 4 daughters, Linda (Ronald) Peake of Flint, Charlotte Jurd of Swartz Creek, Yvonne (James) Fry of Rockford, IL, Jill (Rocky) Freeman-Clements of Durand; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Julie) Peake, Colleen Peake, Amy (Ken) Moll, Judy Olsen, Dawn Rogers, Carleena Mayfield, Joel (Trisha) Bryan, Christopher (Teresa) Bryan, Reece (Whitney) Freeman and Michael (Kassidy) Martinez; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Joy Ann (Ron) Coleman.
