Dorothy Vincent

VINCENT, Dorothy "Dottie" R. - Age 87, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Funeral services will be held 1PM Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12PM- 4PM Friday and 11AM until time of service Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to Horse Haven. Dorothy was born August 26, 1930 in Swartz Creek, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ralph and Vearl Elston. She married Robert Vincent on October 20, 1952 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2010. She retired from the A.C. Spark Plug Division of General Motors in 1982 and member of the UAW Local 651. Dottie enjoyed snowmobiling, line dancing, skiing and hunting she was an all around outdoor girl. But most of all she loved her family. She had a passion for horses and was bestowed the Michigan Horse Council's Catalyst Award in 2003 for her love of horses and having the knack at getting other people involved. Dottie has ridden on horse trails throughout the Great Lakes states and as far away as Hawaii. She is credited with helping to keep the horse camp at Highland Recreation Area open south of Fenton and has worked for more than 20 years on the Elba Equestrian Center. Dottie was also a member of several trail riding groups besides H.T.R.A., namely MTRA, Pontiac Lake Trail Riders and has been a member of the Shiawassee Riders for over 30 years. Surviving are: son, Larry Vincent of Gaines; daughters, Sally (Rob) Loomis of Okemos, Sindy (Dave) Leppan of Gaines; grandchildren, Kristyna Vincent, Paige Vincent, Brent Vincent, Chelsea Loomis, Corrie Loomis, Ashley Loomis, Dayton Leppan, Denver Leppan, and great grandson, Hayden Zappa.
