Douglas Alan Potter

Potter, Douglas Alan - Age 71, of Highland, passed away July 17, 2026. No service will be held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or University of Michigan Health Rogel Cancer Center. Douglas was born on June 26, 1955, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Douglas and Dorothy (Hoss) Potter. He spent many years working in a variety of occupations throughout the automotive industry. On December 6, 1986, he married, Vickie Lynn Hopkins, beginning a marriage filled with love and partnership. In his younger years, Douglas enjoyed playing softball and later developed a love for golfing and bowling. Following his retirement, he discovered a true passion for woodworking. His talent and craftsmanship were evident in the many handcrafted gifts he created for family and friends; each made with care and generosity. One of his proudest accomplishments was completely remodeling the kitchen cabinets in his home as a labor of love for his beloved wife, Vickie. Surviving are: wife, Vickie; daughter, Jennifer (Gene) Kopczyk; son, Tom (Suzanne) Danner; five grandchildren; sister, Sherry (Rick) Hunt; many cousins; and his mother-in-law, Betty Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Donna Benford; the nurses and staff of Huron Valley Sinai Hospital, Heart to Heart Hospice; and University of Michigan Health Rogel Cancer Center.
