Douglas Francis Hall

November 21, 1931 — January 27, 2025

Flint

Douglas Francis Hall, formerly of Flint, Michigan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 27, 2025.

Doug was born in Flint to parents Francis and Pauline Hall (nee Odykirk) and was a graduate of Dye High School. At the age of 17 Doug enlisted in the Army National Guard and went on to serve in the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. He returned to his hometown and joined the Flint Police Department where he served for many years. Doug continued serving his nation and community, alternating his time between the Marine Corps and the police department.

Feeling a call on his life, Doug joined his church in ministry and was ordained by Evangelical Alliance Ministerial Association in December of 1969, continuing his life of service as a pastor, chaplain and counselor and teacher for several churches and organizations. Doug’s devotion to the military eventually led him to the US Army Reserve and a position as a chaplain’s assistant. His wise counsel, in-depth knowledge of the Bible and the heart of God, and his unwavering and selfless search for the will of God in his life were a testament to family, friends and all who knew him.

Throughout his life of service and study Doug achieved baccalaureate and advanced degrees, culminating in a Doctorate of Theology.

Doug is survived by his wife of 72 years, Shirley (nee Ormiston); his son Stan (Cathy); his daughter Amy (Calvin), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Steve and by his daughter Paula Hemgesberg (James).
